Product description
The Diabelli Variations Op. 120 are among the highlights of piano literature and represent the masterpiece of one of the greatest composers in history - Ludwig van Beethoven. Anton Diabelli's cycle of 33 variations on the simple waltz is an example of the composer's ingenuity, profound musical expression and brilliant piano technique. Here Beethoven transforms the basic theme into a diverse range of characters, from lyrical and singing passages to dramatic scenes and a virtuosic finale. This cycle, known as the "Diabelli Variations", is considered one of the greatest collections of variations for piano and was written by Beethoven between 1819 and 1823.
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 - 1827) was a German composer and pianist, a period of transition from musical classicism to romanticism. He is one of the most admired composers in history and his compositions are among the most played in the repertoire of classical music. Beethoven's work includes 9 symphonies, 32 piano sonatas, 5 piano concertos, 10 sonatas for piano and violin, countless string quartets, vocal and theatrical music and many other small compositions.
