Product description

This first book of the World Famous Classics series takes you on a journey through musical history. The volume contains sixteen light classical melodies, nearly all of which will be familiar to you. The musical journey starts at the beginning of the 16th century with the Belgian composer Tylman Susato and the English king, Henry VIII. It continues with Johann Sebastian Bach (17th century), Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (18th century) and Jacques Offenbach (19th century), visiting many other well-known composers along the way. The journey finishes in the 20th century with the French composer Gabriel Fauré.

Cowles Colin (* 1940) is an English composer and music teacher. He studied at Trinity College of Music at Cambridge and London University. He worked as a pedagogue until 1980 and has since became a freelance composer and performer. He has coached and conducted many County Youth Bands, Symphony Orchestras and Jazz Orchestras, and has adjudicated at music festivals. His work is almost always inspired by the English countryside and he has written more than 400 compositions. Colin plays a wide variety of instruments and has a wonderful sense of humour, which is also reflected in his pieces.
