During his lifetime, Jan Křtitel Vaňhal was one of the most popular and admired authors. In later life he taught music and became a sought-after piano teacher. His piano compositions are still popular and used pedagogical material. During his lifetime, Vaňhal composed a large number of spiritual and secular compositions, orchestral and chamber compositions, compositions for keyboard instruments, serenades and songs.
