This workbook brings you a collection of compositions by Spanish composers of the 16th and 17th centuries in arrangements for classical guitar. Jiří Jirmal has selected and rewritten compositions for you to modern notation, which were originally written for vihuel, lute and five-string guitar.
Jiří Jirmal (1925-2019) was a Czech guitarist, composer, publicist and pedagogue. He played the guitar from a young age, especially jazz music. He received his professional classical music education at the State Conservatory of Music in Prague, where he also later taught himself. He had to end his successful concert activities in 1965 after a serious car accident, and since then he has devoted himself mainly to pedagogical, journalistic and composing activities.
