Product description
"Piano Sonata" is the first sonata Philip Glass wrote for piano. It is approximately 26 minutes long and is his longest piano composition. The Sonata is a three-movement work and was composed for pianist Maki Namekawa and premiered at the Klavier Festival Ruhr in 2019. This large-scale piano piece is a complex work that is all about playfulness and joy.
Philip Morris Glass (*1937) is an American composer and pianist. He is considered one of the most influential composers of the late 20th century. Glass's work has been associated with minimalism, being built up from repetitive phrases and shifting layers. He wrote fifteen operas, a number of chamber operas and music theatre works, fourteen symphonies, twelve concertos, nine string quartets and various other works for chamber ensembles, and several film scores. Three of his film scores were nominated for Academy Awards.
