Product description

This album in the series "Easy Piano Pieces and Dances" brings you small and technically undemanding pieces from Josef Suk's rich piano works.  The book includes 12 pieces from the period 1893-1928 in a varied selection: from jocular and light-hearted mood pieces (Village Serenade or Humoresque), musical gifts for friends (Ticket to a Memorial, Song) to serious and deeply intimate excerpts from Suk's masterful piano cycles. Interpretive challenges for early intermediate pianists can include subtle changes of expression in a relatively small area.

Josef Suk (1874 - 1935) was a Czech composer, violinist and pedagogue, student and son-in-law of Antonín Dvořák. He was a great lyricist of Czech music at the turn of the late Romanticism and Modernism of the 20th century. He is one of the most prominent representatives of the Dvořák school of composition and one of the founders of Czech musical modernism.
