Concerto in E minor for violin and orchestra Op.64 was written by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy in 1844. The composition is one of his best-known and most performed works. Now we bring you this concerto in an Urtext edition for violin and piano (orchestra reduction). The publication contains two versions of the solo violin part, one edited by Birgit Müller and the other part edited by Igor Oistrach.
Jakob Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809 - 1847) was a German composer of the Romantic period. He was one of the most remarkable and greatest composers of his time. His miraculous talent manifested itself at an early age, his steep creative rise and untimely death are reminiscent of the career of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The main features of his compositions is tenderness, smile, calmness and extraordinary melodic ingenuity.
