Jimi Hendrix, born Johnny Allen Hendrix (1942-1970) was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. His career spanned just four years, yet he is widely regarded as the greatest and one of the most influential electric guitar players in the history of popular music and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century. He achieved worldwide fame mainly thanks to his performances at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 and at the Woodstock Festival in 1969.
