Opis produktu

"The melodies in this publication have been selected from collections of Scandinavian folk music (mainly Swedish and Norwegian) dating from the early 19th century. In Scandinavian folk music there is a clear influence of central European music and also English or Scottish music.
Because it is folk music it has no 'known' composers and is part of the traditional folk repertoire. The tunes are handed down from generation to generation, from fiddler to fiddler, and are often known as somebody’s versions (father‘s, uncle‘s, teacher‘s, grandmother‘s, etc.).
The main instrument of Scandinavian folk music is the violin. In this publication, the melodies are arranged for two violins. Traditional folk tunes were also often played in this way and are still played today. It is remarkable that this music can sound very interesting and full even in such a small ensemble."  Milan Ort

Milan Ort (*1955) studied violin at the Prague Conservatory. He was a member of a number of folklore ensembles and many chamber orchestras, where he worked in the section of the first violins or violas. His compositional work is focused on the stylization of folk music from all over the world, especially from Moravia, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. In his other pieces, he writes small solo or chamber compositions, mainly for children from Music schools.
