The seven pieces in this publication are selections from two ballet suites, "Glances" and "Points on Jazz", composed by Dave Brubeck. Dramatic concert pieces for late intermediate and advanced pianists, these pieces range within the boundaries of Romanticism, yet remain contemporary and modern, and show Brubeck's compositional genius.
Dave Brubeck (born David Warren Brubeck) (1920-2012) was an American jazz pianist and composer. He is considered a leading representative of "Cool Jazz". In many of the pieces he wrote or played, he experimented with unusual bars, e.g. Take Five (5/4), Pick Up Sticks (6/4), Unsquare Dance (7/4), Blue Rondo à la Turk (9/8) ...... Along with Paul Desmond, Joe Morell and Eugene Wright, they formed the very popular The Dave Brubeck Quartet of their time.
