Opis produktu

A new critical edition of organ compositions by B. M. Černohorský, realized after more than 50 years, brings up-to-date knowledge concerning the organ works of the author and is presented for the first time in a semantically faithful way, responding to the source materials, including newly found copies, and to the contemporary notational practice so that the compositions can be performed on old organs of Central European and Italian typology. The volume includes four studies: a historical and biographical one, an organological one on the organ of St. James in Prague and the organs in Padua and Assisi during the composer's tenure there as a member of the Order of Minorities, and an editorial one, documenting the development and shift in the author's attribution. The edition contributes to demythologizing the notion of the "Czech Bach" without losing any of its qualities.

Bohuslav Matej Cernohorsky (1684 - 1742) was a Czech composer, Minorite priest, organist and music teacher. His high level of polyphony, his unique conception of melody and rhythm, his pedagogical activities and the overall influence of his work on next generations of composers make him a unique personality of the peak period of the Czech Baroque music.
