Product description

The "Variations" are beautiful, Viennese-inspired compositions for cello (or violin) and piano. The opening fanciful 'Introduction' is followed by the romantically dreamy 'Theme' and a series of six short 'Variations', which end with an extensive 'Finale'.
The first mention of the "Variations" is in 1820, when the work was published by Johann Velten: Karlsruhe (the manuscript has not yet been found) and is the main source for the new edition. The aim of the edition is to publish an authentic, but from a contemporary point of view, readable form of the musical text.

Jan Václav Hugo Voříšek (1791-1825) was a Czech composer, pianist and organist. He is one of the leading representatives of early Czech romanticism.
