This piece is one of the most popular books of pedagogical piano literature. The first book presents all six sonatinas op. 36 by Muzia Clementi (1752-1832), a selection from op. 55 and 20 by Friedrich Kuhlau (1786-1832) and two sonatinas from op. 20 by Jan Ladislav Dusik (1760-1812). The compositions are in order with graduating difficulty. The last piece is Dusik´s Rondo that is called La Matinée (Early morning). Level of difficulty 4-7

Jan Ladislav Dusík (1760-1812) was a Czech composer and pianist. He is one of the most significant and interesting composers of Czech and European music at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. In his time he was one of the most famous pianists, composers and music teachers. He wrote more than three hundred compositions and the vast majority of them are for solo piano or concertante piano with accompaniment of melodic instruments.
