Jiří Matys (1927 - 2016) was a Czech composer and music teacher. He studied organ at the Brno Conservatory and then composition at JAMU. He was the director of the Folk Art School in Brno-Královo Pole, he collaborated with the Ostrava Conservatory and taught at the Brno Conservatory. His composed many chamber compositions, but he has also written a number of choral compositions and instructional compositions for piano, recorder, violin, accordion and other instruments.
