John, Elton

Elton Hercules John (born 1947) is a British singer, composer and pianist. He was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight but had his name officially changed to Elton Hercules John in 1972. He is one of the most successful solo artists in the history of popular music. His music has been praised by critics and musicians around the world for its lasting influence on the music industry, and his longtime songwriting partnership with lyricist Bernie Taupin (b. 1950) is also one of the most successful in music history.
