Transmutations has the subtitle A Walk Across Musical Styles and brings you seven short and easy variations on the Czech folk song "Já jsem z Kutný hory" for piano three hands. The first "monophonic" part is very easy and is suitable for beginning pianists. Each variation has an additional text that briefly characterizes the musical style in which the variation is written. An interesting, informative and entertaining title.
The musical samples you can hear here to give you an idea of what the variation sounds like are the outputs from the notation program in which the songs were written, and their really "live" performance may sound a little different.
Eduard Douša (* August 31, 1951, Prague) is a Czech composer and pedagogue. In 1971 he completed his studies in musicology at Charles University in Prague and continued his education at music theory and composition at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He is a professor at the Prague Conservatory and lectures at the Institute of Musicology, Faculty of Arts, Charles University. In addition to orchestral music, chamber compositions and music for solo instruments, Douša composed music for Czech Radio for more than a hundred radio fairy tales, mini-operas and children's songs.
Eva Doušová (*1964) is a Czech pianist, music teacher, member of the chamber ensembles Duo BeNe and Trio Continuo, also music editor and editor-in-chief of a music publishing house.
