Dua Lipa (*1995) is an English singer of Kosovar-Albanian origin. In 1992, her family emigrated to the UK due to the war. Her father used to be the lead singer of the Kosovo rock band Oda and after emigrating worked for a company organising music festivals. Dua Lipa was therefore surrounded by music from an early age. From the age of 11, Dua started singing. At the age of 16 she started working as a model and at 18 she made a commercial for the singing competition X Factor, which she did not participate in. In 2017, she released her first big hit "New Rules", which shot her to the top of the charts. In 2018, she won two BRIT Awards for Discovery of the Year and Best Female Performance, and a year later won an award for her single "One Kiss", which she sang in a duet with singer Calvin Harris. In 2020, Dua Lipa won an American Music Award for her single "Don't Start Now".
