Product description

Roman Polanski’s successful film "The Pianist" has focused attention on the Nocturne in c sharp minor by Chopin. Our edition presents the work in two versions. One derives from the handwritten copy which was owned by Chopin‘s sister Ludwika. The second version differs significantly from the first version found in Chopin's original draft, now preserved in the Chopin Museum in Valldemossa (Mallorca). It is now your turn to choose which version to learn first and play this beautiful Nocturne.

Fryderyk Chopin (1810-1849) was a Polish composer and piano virtuoso of French-Polish origin. He is considered one of the greatest masters of Romantic music. He wrote his works primarily for solo piano and all his other compositions also contain a piano part. His major piano works include mazurkas, waltzes, nocturnes, polonaises, instrumental ballads, etudes, preludes and sonatas. He also wrote two piano concertos, several chamber works and several songs on Polish texts. Some of his compositions were published posthumously.
