Product description

An exhibition of pictures by the painter Viktor Hartmann inspired Mussorgsky in 1874 to write Pictures at an Exhibition, a cycle of pieces now regarded as the most significant piano work of this Russian master. This beautiful songbook includes color illustrations, a summary of the work, notes on the composer, and easy piano arrangements.

Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky (1839 - 1881) was Russian composer and pianist who was an innovator of Russian music during the Romantic period. Many of his compositions were inspired by Russian history and Russian folklore. Despite a tragic life destiny (he suffered from severe depression) and a relatively short time during which he devoted himself to creative musical activities, Mussorgsky left a work whose significance transcends time. It mainly includes compositions for piano, operas, songs and orchestral compositions.
