Product description
Mikrokosmos is a set of 153 piano pieces written by Béla Bartók between 1926 and 1939. It is one of the milestones of the pedagogical piano repertoire and is probably one of the most influential sets of piano pieces of the 20th century.
The Microcosm for String Ensembles series brings you 148 transcriptions from this series in four volumes, arranged for string ensembles of varying instrumentation, and each volume in the series is graded according to difficulty.
The first volume brings you pieces in very easy arrangements for children's string ensembles and orchestras in scoring for three violins and cello.
Béla Bartók (1881-1945), full name Béla Viktor János Bartók, was a Hungarian composer, pianist and and music scientist. He emigrated to the USA in 1940 because of his opposition to Hungarian fascism. Together with Leoš Janáček and Zoltán Kodály, he is one of the composers whose significant source of inspiration was folk music. He is considered one of the most important composers of the 20th century.
