Product description

Grazyna Bacewicz wrote Trio for oboe, violin and cello in 1935, and the following year the piece won second prize (the first was not awarded) at a composition competition organised by the Polish Music Publishing Society in Warsaw, and was also positively received by the public.  The work is in three movements (Adagio, Andante and Vivo), and is an example of the composer's neoclassicism and an important stage in the development and refinement of her compositional skills and the formation of her distinctive musical style.

Gražyna Bacewicz (1909 -1969) was a Polish composer and violinist. The violin appears in many of her compositions. She wrote seven violin concertos, five sonatas for violin and piano, three sonatas for solo violin, a quartet for four violins, seven string quartets, two piano quintets, several symphonies and many other works for various instrumentations. She also wrote works for vocal, choirs, stage and film music.
